If you are just a curious individual, a private investigator, or you have a business and want to screen your employees, an online background check is the most convenient way to get the information you want. Many sites have extensive information available, some of which is free, but the more information you want, the more it's going to cost you. For example, if you're interested in a complete record including an online criminal background check, it will cost a bit more than to just find out general information, such as last known address, birth date, or names of possible relatives. Fees for online back ground checks are quite reasonable, and some basic information is free, such as a name search that lists the address of each person with the same name in a certain state, and sometimes the year of birth.

Doing a little investigative work ahead of time is a good idea; it's much better to be inquisitive before an in-person encounter than finding out too late that your new acquaintance is a devious weirdo!

As you can see, there are lots of reasons to do an online background check on someone. Maybe you are curious about your neighbor because he only comes out at night and he has other strange habits as well. If you own property that is rented or leased out, you may also want to obtain an online background check on prospective tenants, including a credit report to make sure applicants are financially responsible and haven't filed bankruptcy or have judgments against them. There is a great amount of personal information out there about all of us, and it really isn't that difficult to find out just about anything you want to know about anyone with an online background check. You can save your money and be your own private investigator, and do it all from the comfort of your home!
